We are FAITH FUELED, walking the path of a disciple, building our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Out of that relationship we are ACTION ORIENTED, called to partner with God to serve those in need. We not only serve those in need, but are MISSIONALLY MINDED, living out the Great Commission, inviting the lost into a relationship with Jesus. How do we do that? We practice INTENTIONAL HOSPITALITY, welcoming everyone, but not affirming every action. We LOVE WITHOUT LIMITS, reflecting Christ’s love to everyone, everywhere, always. And we are YOUTH EMPOWERING, always staying open to new ways to communicate the love of God to the next generation.
Faith Fueled: Faith in God is the foundation to all we do.
At The Light KC, we will be Faith Fueled. Faith in Jesus Christ as our savior is the foundation to all we do at The Light KC. Biblical faith is developed through knowledge in who Jesus is, by believing in what Jesus has done, and choosing to trust Jesus with our eternal lives as the only one who has the power to save us from the consequences of our sin.
Action Oriented: We don't just believe, we live out our beliefs.
At The Light KC, we will be Action Oriented. We won’t just believe in Jesus with our heads, we’ll be people who ACT on every command in the Bible and conviction from the Holy Spirit. We want our lives of faithful obedience to show the world who Jesus is, how much He loves them, and to represent the Kingdom that they’re invited to join.
Missionally Minded: We follow Jesus' mission to seek and save the lost.
At The Light KC, we will be Missionally Minded. We won’t be a church that stays within our walls, only spending time with other believers. We will be a church whose heart breaks for the lost in our community. We will courageously live lives reflecting God’s love, share our faith, invite people into our community of faith, and pray for God to open doors and soften the hearts of those who do not yet believe in the saving power of Jesus. We don’t believe evangelism is the work of only the church staff, but of ever believer.
Intentional Hospitality: Everyone is welcome.
At The Light KC, we will be a church united by our love for God and our desire to serve Him and build His Kingdom. We will show everyone Intentionally Hospitality; generosity, kindness, and friendship. We will actively listen for and be ready to respond when the Holy Spirit guides us to the needs of others. We will not be a church that does the minimum to help, but we will reflect God’s love by being generous and blessing lavishly. Because we know that God’s greatest work, saving us from our sins through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ, often starts with friendship born from an act of hospitality.
Loving without Limit: We choose to reflect the sacrificial, unconditional love of God.
At The Light KC, we will be a church that LOVES WITHOUT LIMITS. We will be a people that aspire to love others as God loves us. We will refuse to define people by their worst moments, but step back and view people in the context of the entirety of who they are; seeing the good, viewing the bad in context, and knowing that they are an image bearer of God. We will learn to extend forgiveness to others, because God extended forgiveness to us. We will actively engage with non-believers, reflecting God’s LIMITLESS LOVE, praying that everyone would come into a personal saving relationship with Jesus Christ. And we will forgive ourselves, knowing that once we confess, God already has.
Youth Empowering: We exist for the youth and the faith of future generations.
At The Light KC, we will be a church that EMPOWERS OUR YOUTH. We will be genuine in our faith, serving as examples of what healthy adult Christian lives looks like. We will engage in spiritual disciplines ourselves and invite the youth to join us, teaching them how to learn from, listen to, and obey the Word of God. We will not isolate the youth in children’s programming, but intentionally find ways to involve youth in Sunday services helping them smoothly transition to a post youth faith. We will never compromise the Gospel Message or Doctrines of the Bible, but we will adjust how the message is presented to reach the changing needs of our youth. We will be a church that sacrifices our preferences to help the youth develop a foundation of faith that can survive in an increasingly hostile culture. As a church, we exist to serve the next generation.
